Tailor Your Exclusive Guqin

Every heirloom guqin is a soulful dialogue between the player and the luthier. Since 2026, Ooqin officially launches global private custom guqin service — creating a unique, exclusive guqin for every true player. From qin style (Fuxi, Zhongni, Shennong, Luoxia), to inscription (qin name, colophon, collector's seal), to rare wood selection (300-year-old cedar, paulownia top, catalpa bottom), every detail is decided by you. We can even use the same 300-year-old ancient wood to simultaneously craft your guqin and a guqin table, achieving wood fiber resonance, letting time and melody echo together.

You can also send us your preferred wood (old cedar, paulownia, catalpa), and we will craft it exclusively for you. With nearly thirty years of guqin-making heritage, each Ooqin guqin undergoes hundreds of tuning tests, ensuring deep open strings, clear harmonics, and warm stopped tones. All Ooqin guqin receive lifetime maintenance — including surface repair, lacquer care, and peg adjustments. Every detail is customized to your requirements.

"More than an instrument — it's the spiritual home of the player, a lifelong companion and confidant."

300-Year Ancient Wood · Sympathetic Resonance

One piece of wood, two lives — the resonance chamber of the guqin and the spiritual home of the player.

Origin of Ancient Wood

Selected natural old cedar over 300 years old, sourced from beams of ancient residences or temple structures from the Ming and Qing dynasties. After centuries of natural drying, the wood has reached peak stability, fiber structure fully relaxed, resonance performance meeting guqin-grade standards. Each piece of ancient wood comes with traceable year certification and source records, accompanied by an exclusive collection certificate.

Traceable Year · Verifiable Source

Sympathetic Resonance Principle

When you custom order a guqin, we use different parts of the same ancient wood — the body uses the most uniformly grained heartwood. Identical wood density, same year, same natural drying history, giving the guqin and table an exceptionally excellent natural frequency (approx. 75-110Hz), creating a physical "acoustic resonance."

Physical Resonance · Acoustic Coupling

Intangible Heritage Craftsmanship

Supervised by collaborating intangible heritage luthiers, each guqin shares the same set of hand-planing and lacquer finishing techniques. The interior is designed with traditional sound-guiding channels for optimal resonance, creating a mellow sound field within the body. Each piece undergoes over 50 processes, taking 200-360 days of meticulous work.

Intangible Heritage · Master Handcraft

Collectibility & Appreciation

The guqin preserves the material memory of the same ancient wood. As the wood continues to mature, its tone and resonance characteristics improve year by year, creating a unique "living" collectible instrument with significant heirloom value and appreciation potential.

Heirloom Collection · Appreciation Potential

Project Reservation Note

This project requires reservation 6-12 months in advance, accepting only 6 pieces per year. Due to the rarity of ancient wood and complex craftsmanship, each guqin is a unique, one-of-a-kind piece.

How to Register Interest

Guqin Crafting · More Player Character with Time

In Ooqin's guqin customization, the most representative feature is that you can create a private, exclusive guqin, selecting rare woods such as 300-year-old cedar, paulownia, and catalpa.

Key Feature: Heirloom Tone — With years of use, the guqin increasingly reflects the player's character, merging with the owner's personality. The wood breathes; traditional craftsmanship stabilizes the wood, with every wear mark and patina marking the passage of time.

Each Ooqin guqin requires meticulous crafting by luthiers over half a year. If you customize your own guqin at Ooqin, you need patient waiting — because true handcraft is never rushed.
